Freddy Marinho

Freddy started dancing when he was very young at Jaime Arôxa’s Studio but it was due to his experience with the Queen of Zouk Renata Peçanha that he started dancing professionally and teaching in her Studio – Núcleo de Dança Renata Peçanha, and got specialized in Zouk.
He has been one of the creators of Renata Peçanha’s Dance Company and acted as dancer and instructor in her studio since 2004, running classes of Zouk, Salsa and Dança de Salão (Brazilian Ballroom Dances) including Samba de Gafieira, Forró, Bolero and others.
In other states within Brazil, he gave classes of Zouk and Samba de Gafieira in workshops for students and dance groups, specially Brasília, the capital of Brazil.
He has been part of the Dance Company Prima Facie, where he performed in shows of Jazz and Contemporary Dance, and also, he has worked under a contract with Walt Disney World Brazil, making shows in the country as a ballet dancer in 2010. During his time working with Márcia Pinheiro (ex-ballet dancer from the Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro), he increased and developed his techniques and knowledge in the study of the mechanical principles of living organisms, particularly the movements and structures, such as the application of biomechanics in dance. Also improving in Ballet and Contemporary Ballet.
He has become a highly respected teacher and performer in the Zouk scenery and left Brazil in 2010 spreading the Brazilian dances around the world.

Along the years living and teaching abroad, together with Andressa Castelhano they created and developed the Fundamentals Course, a teaching methodology with an application more appropriated for beginner dancers that grew without the cultural immersion of the dance and rhythm like the Brazilians do.
This methodology has been so successful that they even passed its format forward to other world-known professionals that got inspired by it.
Freddy & Andressa have also introduced and developed Brazilian Zouk and Samba de Gafieira in Moscow – Russia, for 2 years, 2010 and 2011, where they lived and had their own dance school.
In 2012, they introduced the same dances and have been developing them up to now in Helsinki – Finland, where they currently live and opened their new Dance School, Helsinki Dance Central.
Freddy Marinho is also in the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Zouk Dance Council, working on having this dance organised, regulated and well established world wide. Besides that, he is a Professional Actor and has already acted in many drama, comedy and musical plays, besides movies and short movies in the cinema scenery in Brazil.

Andressa Castelhano

Performer, teacher and coreographer, started dancing Latin Dances and Ballroom in 2006. She got specialized in zouk due to her years as part of Renata Peçanha’s Dance Company in Brazil. Jazz, Classic and Contemporary Ballet, are other dance styles that she studied for many years improving her technique. She has also been involved in a Dance Company – Prima Facie, where she made shows of Jazz and Contemporary Dance.
Andressa taught Zouk and Dança de Salão, including Samba de Gafieira, in different studios in Rio de Janeiro, and has also worked for Walt Disney World Brazil as a ballet dancer in Disney Parades in different states within Brazil in 2009.
